To be honest, it's been difficult to regularly benchmark over 400/400 with AT&T from the RT-AC68U. I trusted AT&T to make my life easier with Gigabit fiber, but in reality, my previous 300mbps service from Spectrum was more consistent and stable. I have performed multiple reboots after downgrade on all devices with little improvement.

Testing directly from a PC on the Pace 5268 gives 900/900 speed, but my RT-AC68U has been hobbled again somehow with this poor implementation by Pace/AT&T. I downgraded today with some difficulty to the 10.5.3 and now getting 300/300, instead of 50/150, but nowhere near 800/800 I was getting a few months back. I had been experiencing what appeared to be slow internet for weeks. Has anyone else ran into similar issue and have found the cause? I am a novice when it comes to networking and unable to diagnose the issue, other than going out and buying a new router. My router is pretty old so replacement is probably warranted regardless, but wanted to know the issue before I replace it so I won't run into same issue with a new router. I have not tested it, but I imagine would get the similar boost in speed if I hard wire my desktop to 5268AC. Out of curiosity, I investigated and the slow speed persisted regardless of device or connection type (wifi and LAN).īut I discovered that connecting my mobile device to 5268AC's wifi gave me much higher speed at around 400/600 while my desktops that are hard wired to Asus was giving me 40/100. I've noticed slowness here and there but didn't think much of it. All the desktop devices are hard wired and I've had no issue for many months with speed. RT-AC66 is mostly factory default with WIFI settings.

Also, the built-in PPTP VPN server and free Dynamic DNS service works fantastic. 5GHz is pretty much limited to my own 2500 square foot house, but still, the range is awesome. With it sitting in the center of my house, I can still pick up a stead 2.4GHz signal at 72Mbps 3 houses away. The range is outstanding, and it can be extended further with higher gain antennas if needed. Pretty much anything you can think of, it can do it.
